Prof. Mark Goulthorpe, Associate Professor Department of Architecture, MIT, discusses changing the paradigm of building and building materials to actually use carbon and drive decarbonization. This talk will explore what happens if technology exists to leverage carbon gas deposition to create carbon materials – and the price of carbon fiber is reduced by two orders of magnitude. This could create an entirely new genre of all-carbon buildings which are resilient, autonomous, multi-functional and actually reduce the world’s «carbon footprint».
