Brazil’s offshore fleet of floating oil platforms has grown by two as Japanese contractor MODEC announced that the ‘Almirante Barroso MV32’ has arrived on Brazilian shores while the Anita Garibaldi is en route.
The first vessel arrived on October 5 in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro with the commissioning underway in a local shipyard.
The Almirante Barroso MV32 will operate in the Búzios field for Petrobras with the capacity to produce up to 150,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and six million cubic metres (m³) of gas daily. First oil is expected in 2023.
On the other hand, the Anita Garibaldi left the DSIC Marine Yard shipyard, Dalian, China, headed for Brazil on October 6.
The massive vessel will be installed in the Marlim and Voador fields, in the Campos Basin (RJ), with production scheduled for start-up in the third quarter of 2023. It can produce up to 80,000 bpd and process up to seven million m3 of gas.
The Marlim Revitalization Project plans to replace the nine platforms currently operating in the Marlim and Voador fields – P-18, P-19, P-20, P-26, P-32, P-33, P-35, P-37 and P-47 – for the new FPSOs Anita Garibaldi and Anna Nery – the latter being scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2023.
The Anita Garibaldi will be connected to 43 wells, with peak production scheduled for 2026.
Petrobras said the new floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel will be strategic for the Campos Basin Renewal Plan, aimed at renewing mature assets operated by the company in the region. The state-owned company is investing US$ 16 billion in this program, which integrates its Strategic Plan for the period 2022 to 2026.
