NG Energy has commenced production and sales from its Sinu-9 gas project in Colombia, the Canadian player said on Monday.
The project is considered vital for the country’s energy security. It is expected to eventually produce 136 mcf per day, or roughly 14% of Colombia’s current daily gas consumption, making Sinu-9 a key development for national energy security.
Production is currently 235,029 cubic metres (8.3 mcf) per day, with a year-end production target of 829,684 cubic metres (29.3 mcf) per day.
The project’s central processing facility was commissioned in September. The processing facility is connected by a 28.3-kilometre pipeline to Promigas’s national gas transportation system at the company’s Jobo delivery point.
In August, a key pipeline was brought on stream.
The Sinú-9 block is located in the department of Cordoba. Vancouver-headquartered NG has a 72% working interest in the block.
NGE plans to deliver up to 1.13 mcm (40 mcf) per day of natural gas to the national system by H2 of 2024. The Sinú-9 block has P1 reserves of 755.61 mcm (26.7 bcf) and P3 reserves of 6.94 bcm (245.3 bcf).
