Baker Hughes has been awarded a “significant” order from Spanish engineering company Técnicas Reunidas to supply gas equipment for the third expansion phase of Aramco’s Jafurah gasfield in Saudi Arabia, Baker Hughes announced on Thursday.
Under the contract, Baker Hughes will supply six electric-motor-driven gas compression trains and propane compressors, as well as balance of plants and auxiliaries. Delivery will be supported by Baker Hughes’s recently expanded industrial facility in Dammam, which has already supplied compression trains for gas and hydrogen projects in Saudi Arabia, including Jafurah.
A key component of Aramco’s long-term production strategy, Jafurah is Saudi Arabia’s largest non-associated gasfield. Its development is expected to command lifecycle investments exceeding USD 100 billion and create more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs.
“Our advanced gas compression technology will enable efficient and reliable production from the Jafurah field, further supporting Aramco’s vision and contributing to Saudi Arabia’s energy development,” said Ganesh Ramaswamy, executive vice-president of Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes.
Previous orders received by Baker Hughes for Aramco projects include compression equipment for the Haradh and Hawiyah gas plants, the first phase of the Jafurah gas plant and compression facilities and the third phase of Saudi Arabia’s Master Gas System project.
The company noted that the order was booked in Q4 2024. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
