Local Content value to surpass US$847M in 2025 — Pertab

The Local Content Secretariat expects the value of local content in Guyana’s oil and gas sector to exceed US$847 million in 2025. This marks an increase of nearly US$104 million over 2024.

Director of the Secretariat, Dr. Martin Pertab, said the growth reflects planned investments in procurement, employment, and capacity building.

Spending in the 40 carved-out procurement categories is projected to reach US$650 million, up by US$38 million or 6.4%.

Employment costs for Guyanese are expected to rise above US$180 million. This will support over 6,500 local jobs, accounting for 65% of total industry employment. The industry also plans to add 850 new hires in 2025.

Training and capacity building will see a US$46 million investment. This includes skills development in fabrication; health, safety and environment (HSE); supply chain; and equipment maintenance. Approximately US$710,000 of this will fund scholarships for marine industry training.
