Seismic analyses of three new development wells drilled by Perenco Colombia in the Paravare and Chaparrito fields on the Casanare plains have identified new channels containing “a large quantity of oil,” the company announced on Wednesday.
Perenco Colombia had embarked on a drilling campaign to increase production from the fields, where several wells have already been successfully drilled and are yielding oil.
In the Paravare field, the newly drilled well PRV-03 is producing at a rate of 500 bopd following optimisation and the installation of an electric submersible pump. The field already had two producing wells. In Chaparrito, new wells CHP-04 and CHP-05 are producing at a rate of 3,380 bopd and 550 bopd, respectively.
“These discoveries endorse our investment strategy in Colombia. Our goal is to replicate this success by continuing to reprocess seismic data from other areas and drilling two development wells and one exploration well per year over the coming years,” said Gaël Piardet, general manager of Perenco Colombia.
Following this successful drilling campaign, the Chaparrito oilfield is expected to account for about 40% of Perenco Colombia’s total production, which stands at approximately 15,000 bopd.
